Second Is the Best: Spring Mills Band places second in Regional Championship Band Competition

On Saturday, October 19th, Spring Mills placed second overall in Regional Band Competition.

SMHS were one of the 16 bands that played at the competition which took place at the Spring Mills High School stadium. Each band played for 15 minutes and boy, did they play.

“Even though we placed second, I think we did really good. We definitely improved from the last competition and, not to mention, we had to go to the Apple Harvest parade and play before the competition too,” SMHS junior, Sierra Vanderhoff, said.

The bands practiced long before the event and played hard at the competition. Each bands’ dedication was visible for everyone watching to see.

“This band competition means a lot to our school. Placing in it can really get our band noticed. The band needs all the support it can get,” Mrs. Phelps, one of the coordinators for Spring Mills’ marching band, said.
