Science Teacher Enjoys Time with Students

Rylea Wilson, Author

Jessica Beihl is a forensics and chemistry teacher at SMHS.

Before becoming a fulltime teacher, Beihl was a substitute for three years. She has been a fulltime teacher for two and a half years, so in total Beihl has been teaching for four and a half years.

I like teaching to get students to enjoy science,” said Beihl.

Beihl enjoys having good relationships with students, but on a downside of teaching she does not like is having to contact parents when a student gets in trouble.

Beihl also juggles her teaching responsibilities with being a softball coach for SMHS. That’s where she enjoys most of her time at.

“I didn’t know I wanted to be a teacher until my dad died, said Beihl. Beihl was close with her dad so everything he did she wanted to do.

Beihl always wanted to have her chemistry degree, but she doesn’t regret her decisions in being a teacher. She enjoys the presence of her students and making sure they are enjoying her science class.
