The Spring Mills’ Orchestra is preparing for their Christmas concert on December 19th at 7PM.

Other than the quartet doing a gig on the 22nd of November, almost all of the Orchestra’s time is taken up focusing on their concert.

“A large portion of what we play isn’t even classical,” SMHS junior, Christopher Smith explained. “Jazz rhythms are hard, man.”

The Orchestra is working on a collection of Christmas songs for the concert.

“Today we worked on ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’, which has proven to be very interesting,” Smith added.

Aside from the upcoming concert, members from orchestra are a lot like family. Each section needs each other to make music properly.

“We’re all like family, most of us are friends – sometimes enemiesWe’re professional when performing and we seem prissy, but at the end of the day, we’re just a bunch of high schoolers, drama and dumb jokes included,” Smith ended.
