Tune in Tuesday: Staff Picks

Paige Kilmer, Author

For this Tune in Tuesday, we’ll be looking at the Newspaper staff’s favorite bops.

Mrs. Jorgensen’s Pick: Looking for America by Switchfoot (ft. Lecrae)

Head of SMHS Newspaper, Mrs. Jorgensen, picked the song Looking for America by Switchfoot.

“I really love this song because it’s calling out America for their injustices and making us think about what’s really going on around us.”

Ryenn Snyder’s Pick: Downtown by Lil Peep

Ryenn Snyder, newspaper staff member, made me pick this song for her.

“I love Lil Peep; just pick one of his songs.”

And so that’s what I did. Bless your ears with this amazing Peep track.

Katelyn Benoit’s Pick: Get Lucky by Daft Punk

We all know the song, sometimes I wish I didn’t, but Katelyn Benoit carefully hand-picked this song for us to enjoy.

“It’s just a bop bro.”

Okay. The song is not bad, but Halestorm did a pretty amazing cover of it that I prefer over the original.

Hannah Marambio’s Pick: In My Room by Frank Ocean

After five minutes of carefully examining her Spotify playlists, Hannah finally picked this bop.

“It’s a good song, I’m just going to pick it.”

Whitney Weyforth’s Pick: Heartless by Morgan Wallen & Diplo

“Okay, don’t judge me guys. It’s a little country, but I really love it. But full disclaimer, I hate country music. I just think people should listen to this.”

She was right, even though it’s a little country, it’s still a great pop song.
