Saturday evening, May 22nd, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm Spring Mills High School will be holding their 2021 Prom for their Seniors and Juniors with the general theme of “A Night Under the Stars.”

Seniors are reminded they can place their votes for Prom court by clicking on the provided link.https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf5yNPzxYQFd_XJL_FsB8_xxa6Ago7uH164j0ymT35MvOysMg/viewform

This year’s prom will happen differently to abide to COVID prevention regulations. Masks are mandatory to attend, and social distances must be maintained as often as possible. The usual array of small snacks will be available, but all foods must be prepackaged. Finally, tickets are sold online to reduce the spread of germs, all of this is done with a rather safe than sorry approach.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed planning Prom this year. It can be strenuous at times, but I don’t view this as a negative experience at all,” said Mrs. Jennifer Blanchard, organizer for SMHS’s Prom.

The recent pandemic has created a whole new dynamic for high school dances. Last year’s Prom did not occur, and this year’s Homecoming was cancelled too. But this year’s SMHS administration was successful with their Prom plans, thanks to Mrs. Jennifer Blanchard’s and Mrs. Angela Hollida’s help, two SMHS teachers.

“Planning a formal and fun evening, despite the recent events, has been a glimpse back to normal that I am so thankful for!” says Blanchard.

For many in Cardinal Country, this prom has become a sign of great hope for a return to normal. The occurrence of this year’s dance can be mainly attributed to the rising vaccination rates, allowing restrictions to be loosened.  This allows seniors to not miss out on another high school highlight, like their previous two years.

Cardinal Country wishes our upper classmates the best of luck in their very different years to come.
