Whether you like country music or not there’s no doubt that there are some really good country songs. Here is my list of the top ten country songs.
Watermelon Crawl – Tracy Byrd: The song is about the narrator going to a small town in Georgia where a watermelon festival is taking place.
Don’t Take The Girl – Tim McGraw: The song tells the story of two young lovers dealing with difficult scenarios at three different stages in their lives. In each situation, the man does all he can to make sure that different people “don’t take the girl.”
American Remains – Highwaymen: The song talks about four fictional but very real homeland people in America. The song talks about each man’s golden days.
Midnight in Montgomery – Alan Jackson: This is an ode to country music legend Hank Williams, who fell ill on his way to a New Year’s Eve performance and died the following day in 1953.
I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry – Hank Williams: The song is reflecting Hank’s tormented feelings toward Audrey Sheppard, his first wife
Folsom Prison – Johnny Cash: The song is about an inmate at Folsom Prison who wishes he could ride a nearby train away from his confinement and to San Antonio.
Neon Moon – Brooks & Dunn: The song is about a man who is at a bar, feeling lonely because his woman has left, so he spends “most every night beneath the light of a neon moon.”
Watching You – Rodney Atkins: The song is about a father and his son doing different things, and the young boy does different things throughout the day that surprises the father and he asks the young boy where he learned how to do these things and the boy says “I’ve been watching you.”
Amarillo By Morning – George Strait: This song tells the tale of a rodeo cowboy and his life on the road.
Jolene- Dolly Parton: The song tells of Parton confronting Jolene, a stunningly beautiful woman, who she worries will steal away her lover/husband.
