There are a lot of songs that you listen to on the daily that you probably don’t know is a cover. In this article we are in no way trying to say that any of these songs are better than the other. 

  • I Will Always Love You- Whitney Houston 

This iconic song by Whitney Houston is a cover. The Whitney Houston cover was released in 1992. It’s a cover of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” which was released in 1974.  

  • Lady Marmalade- Christina Aguilera, Mýa, Lil’ Kim, Pink 

This song was released in 2001. However, this song is a cover of Labelle’s song “Lady Marmalade” which was released in 1974. 

  • Dancing on My Own- Calum Scott 

This song was sung by Calum on Britain’s Got Talent and would later release the cover in 2016. The song he covers is Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own” which was released in 2010.  

  • Girls Just Want to Have Fun- Cyndi Lauper 

This song is also a cover. This song was released in 1983. This song is a cover of Robert Hazard’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” which was recorded in 1979. 

  • Respect- Aretha Franklin 

This iconic song is also a cover. This song was released in 1967. The original song was Otis Redding’s “Respect” which was released in 1965.  

  • I Think We’re Alone Now- Tiffany 

This song was released in 1987. The original song, “I Think Were Alone Now” by Tommy James and the Shondells was released in 1967. 

  • Tainted Love- Soft Cell 

This song was released in 1981. The original song, “Tainted Love” by Gloria Jones was released in 1965. 

  • Achy Breaky Heart- Billy Ray Cyrus 

This song was released in 1992. The original song, “Don’t Tell My Heart” by The Marcy Brothers was released in 1991. 

  • It’s All Coming Back to Me Now- Celine Dion 

This song was released in 1996. The original song, “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” by Pandora’s Box was released in 1989. 

  • I Love Rock ‘N Roll- Joan Jett & the Blackhearts 

This song was released in 1981. The original song, “I Love Rock ‘N Roll” by The Arrows was released in 1976.
