  • The Winter Olympics, which are being hosted by Beijing. These games are less than a month away as they are set to start on February 4 and will last until February 20th. 
  • The Fifa World Cup in Qatar. This tournament will begin November 21. The U.S men’s team will begin competing in matches throughout January, February, and March to qualify for the World Cup. As it stands right now they are the twelfth best men’s soccer team in the world. 
  • New gadgets are rumored to be released in 2022. Apple is working on a new augmented reality product-  a type of technology that superimposes an image on the user’s view of the real world- called Apple Glasses, and will possibly unveil them in late 2022. They also plan to release a reality headset in the summer.

  • The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June. This British celebration will last four days, from June 2nd to June 5th. This celebration revolves around Queen Elizabeth ll and her 70 years on her nation’s throne. She will be the first British monarch to ever achieve this. The event will be televised as it is estimated that half the world will tune in for this historic British event.
  • Tons of well anticipated movies are set to hit the big screens this year. With the likes of “Halloween Ends”, “Scream”, “Cread III”, “Top Gun: Maverick”, “The Batman”, “Thor”, and so many more. 
  • Adventurefuls- the new Girl Scout cookie will be releasing in the upcoming weeks as Girl Scout season approaches. They are a brownie-style with a caramel flavored cream in the middle. Topped off with a chocolate drizzle.

  • 5G goes mainstream, with all the big carriers ushering it out nationwide this year. 
  • Double lunar eclipses, also referred to as “blood moons” will fill the sky on May 16th and November 22nd. I’d be sure to try to catch at least one of these because the next lunar eclipse won’t happen until 2025.
  • The Super Bowl Halftime Show. With appearances from Eminem, Dre.Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige viewers can expect a very entertaining halftime!

  • The suicide hotline is now going to be more accessible as the it is now getting a three digit phone number. Last summer, the Federal Communications Commission voted for all phone companies to support the 988 number that will be available for people to call or text. Phone companies have until July 2022 to implement the change.
  • Apple will be premiering its new Self Service Repair Program. This will allow people to order parts for their phones and repair their IPhone by themselves! All item purchases will come with a repair manual, ensuring the customer knows what they’re doing. This will save customers a lot more money than if they would’ve taken their IPhone to get repaired at a store. However, this will only initially be for Apple’s newest IPhone, the IPhone 12 and IPhone 13.
  • Some of the most beloved TV shows are tying up loose ends and coming to a close this year. With shows such as “This is Us,” “Dead to Me”, “Ozark”, and “Better Call Saul” ending in 2022.
